The Millionaire Next door: The Surprising Secrets of America’s Wealthy by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko
The Millionaire Next Door started me on my financial independence journey. I read this book around 1998 shortly after starting my career in environmental consulting. Even though I had grown up with grandparents that had survived the Great Depression, this book went above and beyond in describing how to accumulate million dollar wealth.
The Millionaire Mind by Thomas J. Stanley
I put this book off for a number of years because I thought it would be just a repeat of the Millionaire Next Door. Was I wrong…this book exceeded my expectations. Not only did it expand on the Millionaire Next Door, it goes further into the psychology of why people accumulate wealth.
Principles: Life and Work by Ray Dalio
Ray Dalio does an excellent job in clearly describing the values that he used to create one of the largest hedge funds on the planet.
